British Columbia’s film, TV, visual effects and animation industry is one of the province’s top-performing sectors, generating over $4 billion in economic activity in 2019 and fuelling a powerful pandemic comeback in 2020. With recent blockbuster hits like The Adam Project, as well as fan favourite streaming series such as Riverdale and Space Force, showcasing recognizable BC landscapes and attractions, BC is swiftly becoming worthy of its own IMDB page. And now, we’re about to see a lot more made-in-BC content, with Netflix signing an additional five-year lease agreement to continue filming at the Langley-based Martini Film Studios (MFS). Greetings once again, screen believers.

Filming in Vancouver: Home Before Dark, Midnight Mass, and TV series to go on holiday hiatuses

Supernatural, shooting its last season, will be among the TV series going on break for the holiday season.

There aren’t any new productions getting started just before the holiday season.

But there are plenty on their way in 2020.

Two TV series that will be starting up in the new year, with one returning and another as a new addition to the local screen scene.

And even though we’re entering the season of gift-giving and renewal with visions of sugar plums and whatnot, these series delve into realms of the dark and mysterious.

Here’s a quick look at who and what’s coming to town—besides Santa Claus, of course.

Filming in Vancouver: Riverdale, Arrow, The Order, and Firefly Lane

Departures appear to be a recurring theme this week.

For as the saying (and Nelly Furtado song) goes, all good things must come to an end.

While a popular adaptation of a teenage comic book is getting back to work, the latest season will be be faced with the prospect of bidding some sad farewells.

Meanwhile, a superhero series, that launched an entire network of interconnected TV series, is preparing to take its final bow.

Amid all this emotional news, there are some bright spots: a new series, about two female best friends, will start shooting its first season and a horror drama is back for a second season.
