Happy Canada Day long weekend! Paint yourself in red and white and celebrate in the streets with live music, a whole bunch of family-friendly activities and, of course, fireworks. And if that’s just a little too obvious for you, you can get in touch with nature (and check out some taxidermy) at the Museum of Vancouver, learn about asteroids at the Space Centre, or get fashionably punk-inspired seeing a Vivienne Westwood documentary.
For yourself or for the fathers in your life, there is a lot of fun to be had this weekend. The Queer Arts Festival opens, there’s free family events at the Bill Reid Gallery, symphony, comedy, football, drag, burlesque, a car show, and behind-the-scenes tours of the Commodore Ballroom.
Contemporary takes on classics is what it’s all about this weekend. For performance, there’s the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare festival. In art, there’s an exhibition of Indigenous tattoo artists reclaiming traditional techniques. For food and music, head to Italian Day on The Drive. Even cheese gets a new take with a vegan cheese tasting workshop.
This weekend there’s a craft beer festival, an off-beat film festival, a theatre festival, Bon Iver in the park, metal in the dark, aerial dance, bird walks, tree climbs, comedy, tap dancing and art shows. Have fun deciding what to do.
It’s Mother’s Day weekend, and there’s a lot to do with your favourite mom! Ballet, a Whitecaps game, ABBA songs, comedy, circus, burlesque, art, documentaries – take your pick.
This weekend you can attend a giant cherry blossom picnic, find comedy on a 1930s murder train, sip the local spirits of BC distilleries, or see a Salish weaving fashion show.
