This week, a dark fantasy TV series with a wicked bite calls it a wrap on its latest season.

But just as that one prepares to call it quits, an ensemble family drama about a group of friends shaken up by the loss of one of them is about to get underway.

Plus there are a whole bunch of TV series on the horizon about to come back to the city—along with a number of new titles to add to the fun.

Filming in Vancouver: Nancy Drew, Nasim Pedrad, and—Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

We’re heading into TV pilot production season, when initial test episodes of potential new series are made before networks decide whether or not they’re going to become a full TV series.

Not only could these shows be coming soon to a home screen near you, but they’re also possible new additions to join Vancouver’s production scene for the next few years.

We’ve been mentioning quite a number of them over the past few weeks but we’ve got a bunch more this week to tell you about.

In the mix are some familiar names, including a classic female detective. But there’s also a new amateur female detective duo gearing up for their debut.

Meanwhile, a former Saturday Night Live cast member is also offering her entry into the comedy TV series world.

And, wait a minute—Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are coming to Vancouver?

Filming in Vancouver: Charmed, Herbie the Love Bug, Van Helsing, and more

The original Charmed TV series ran from 1998 to 2006—but a new version is being filmed.

This week’s roundup of what’s shooting in Vancouver is all about TV series—including two entries that are new takes on previously popular shows.

There’s also a new sci-fi series about pizza workers who become alien hunters, a British period drama about codebreakers who become detectives, and a vampire fighter returns.

All of these shows feature female lead characters—except for one that also features a car as a lead character. And why not?

A happy solar new year to all and the new year means productions are getting back to business after being on hold over the holiday season.

A bunch of TV series are back into the swing of things, with some of them ending later this month.

But there are a bunch of more productions about to take their place, including a reboot of a 1960s sci-fi series and a dark fantasy TV series about a vampire huntress.

While Vancouver may be nicknamed Hollywood North, it might as well be also known as Fanboy/girl/person Central.

You see, our city has long been the shooting destination for numerous sci-fi and fantasy series and films, with many thanks in part to the booming local visual FX industry. (Vancouver became the world’s largest visual effects and animation hub after Sony Imageworks relocated its headquarters here last July.)
