Vancouver’s next big band?

From Pink Mountaintops to Japandroids to Grimes, a lot of great acts have been coming out of Vancouver in the last few years. But it looks like 2014 is going to be the breakout year for White Lung.

The punk band is currently on the cover of the Canadian music monthly Exclaim!, and the band’s just-released album Deep Fantasy was recently featured in the New York Times. NYT writer Jon Caramanica called White Lung “spellbinding”, and said “Riot music doesn’t get any more poignant than Deep Fantasy.” Ian Gormley, writing in Exclaim!, says “Deep Fantasy rages with clear-eyed vision.”

With praise like that, White Lung could well be the next big band out of Vancouver.
