On Saturday, October 22, 2016 Cineplex movie theatres will be hosting a community day with free movies and $2 popcorn, drinks and candy – with all proceeds going to WE Charity (formerly known as Free the Children).

The free movies will be shown in locations around the city including Downtown Vancouver, Richmond, and North Vancouver. The movies being shown include The Jungle Book, Inside Out, The Finest Hours, The Good Dinosaur, and Zootopia.

Although the movies are free, you will still need to get a ticket for each movie. Tickets will become available on a first come, first serve basis at participating Cineplex locations on the morning of October 22nd.

It’s the perfect morning activity for a rainy and gloomy Vancouver morning! Zootopia, Inside Out, The Jungle Book and The Good Dinosaur are all animated family classics. The Finest Hours offers a more action-packed adventure about a daring rescue attempt on the stormy seas of Cape Cod.

Each movie will be screened at the same times in six different theatres across the Vancouver area:

  • The Good Dinosaur – 9:00am
    • In a world where dinosaurs and humans live side-by-side, an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend.

  • Inside Out – 9:15am
    • After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.

  • The Finest Hours – 9:30am
    • The Coast Guard makes a daring rescue attempt off the coast of Cape Cod after a pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952.

  • Zootopia – 9:45am
    • In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy.

  • The Jungle Book – 10:00am
    • After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther, Bagheera, and free spirited bear, Baloo.

The participating theatres include:

  • Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas (200-333 Brooksbank Avenue, North Vancouver)
  • Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas (88 West Pender, 3rd Floor, Vancouver)
  • Scotiabank Theatre Vancouver (900 Burrard Street)
  • SilverCity Metropolis Cinemas (4700 Kingsway, Burnaby)
  • Cineplex Cinemas Marine Gateway and VIP (452 South West Marine Drive, Vancouver)
  • Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam and VIP (170 Schoolhouse Street, Coquitlam)

Doors will open at each location on Saturday, October 22 at 8:30am – make sure to get there early if you want a seat! This is a fun opportunity to see a great movie in a theatre-setting while enjoying cheap popcorn and candy (that’s all the convincing I need!)
