From turkey to Christmas cookies to champagne, you might be feeling a bit sluggish after this holiday season… So, if you’re thinking of making a resolution to get back in shape (after one more glass of wine… okay, two…), the Grouse Mountain Snowshoe Grind is one of the best activities in town!

When the weather in town is frightful, there’s a good chance it’s snowing up the mountain. So if you don’t feel like going for another soggy jog around the neighbourhood, check out the Snowshoe Grind for a great way to stay in shape.

Filming in Vancouver: The Arrangement’s Season 2, Riverdale’s Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa

Grouse Grind Opens for the 2017 Hiking Season this Weekend

Ready to get sweaty? Vancouver’s most notorious hike, the Grouse Grind, will be opening this Saturday, June 17 at 6:15 am to kick off grinding season. Commonly known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster”, the Grouse Grind takes you up steep and rugged terrain on a 2.9km hike up the mountain. It’s an intense workout with 2,830 stairs and an elevation gain of 2,800 feet.

This year’s opening of the Grind has been the latest in history due to a high snow pack and trail upgrades by Metro Vancouver. But, starting tomorrow, the Grind will be open daily for hiking.

If you’re wondering how to get beach body ready fast, you’re in luck – because the Grouse Grind is opening up this weekend for the 2016 hiking season on Saturday, April 30 from 6:15am until 7pm.

Metro Vancouver has been busy making repairs to the trail and have announced that it is finally ready to be tackled. The Grouse Grind is an iconic hiking trail in North Vancouver that is more of a stairmaster and less of a walk in the park. Get your legs warmed up, because it’s time to get sweaty!

5 Reasons to Tackle the Grouse Snowshoe Grind Every Weekend

There are many people in Vancouver who love the iconic Grouse Grind on Grouse Mountain. Okay, “love” may be too strong of a word. More like, hate every minute of it until you get to the top and feel EXCELLENT.

But, in the wintertime when the Grouse Grind shuts down due to snow/ice, people start to get a little bit of an itch for an extreme weekly work out. Luckily, Grouse Mountain introduced the  Snowshoe Grind – a challenging trail that is similar to summertime Grind times.

The Snowshoe Grind is a 4.3km trail of uphill grinding to the top of Dam Mountain. It usually takes about an hour to complete and is a great way to get into the snowy, mountain environment.

So, if you haven’t tried it out yet, or you’re just looking for a good reason to get your sweat on, I present you 5 reasons to tackle the Grouse Snowshoe Grind every weekend!
