Nostalgia rules as Loverboy, Trooper headline this year’s SHOREFEST

Get ready for some classic rock at this year’s Celebration of Light. The annual fireworks competition features three stages of free music on English Bay and Sunset Beach over three nights, July 23, July 27, and July 30.

Presented by the radio station LG 104.3, the concerts showcase local and national talent at the LG 104.3 Stage at the Keg Lounge in English Bay and the Sunset Beach Stage at beautiful Sunset Beach. This year’s headliners include eighties Canadian rock bands Loverboy (“Turn Me Loose,” “Working for the Weekend”) and Trooper (“Raise a Little Hell,” “We’re Here for a Good Time”), as well as some newer artists.

Other artists appearing include Jim Byrnes & Friends, The Matinee, Lydia Hol, Good for Grapes, Khari McClelland, and Dustin Bentall.

This is SHOREFEST’s eight year. Paul Sereda, Assistant Program Director & Music Director of LG 104.3 FM, says that “We’ve truly evolved into a Canadian music festival and this year we anticipate crowds of over one million to attend during the three-day period. 2016 will be one for the records.”

Lydia Hol is among the performers at this year’s SHOREFEST.

The countries participating in this year’s Celebration of Light, the world’s longest-running offshore international fireworks competition, are the Netherlands (July 23), Australia (July 27), and the U.S. (July 30). The pyrotechnics start at 10 pm each night.
