The party of the summer is coming back this week on Thursday, August 18 at 6pm when 6,000 people dressed all in white will converge at a secret public space to celebrate the fifth anniversary of this spectacular event.
Diner en Blanc Vancouver has become a much-buzzed about event that treats attendees with an evening that they’ll never forget. (Good luck getting on the invite list!) It’s inspired a lot of love, some criticism, an anti-event (Ce Soir Noir) and a few weddings… So it comes as no surprise that Dîner en Blanc is one of Vancouver’s most anticipated summer events.
Since its inception in 2012, Dîner en Blanc has treated over 10,000 guests to a memorable dinner party in a sea of white. The idea for the event originated in Paris almost 30 years ago and has been adopted by many other countries around the globe.
The event is an invite-only, pop-up picnic with a top-secret location that is only revealed an hour before the event is set to happen. Those who are lucky enough to attend are required to follow the all-white dress code and every pair of guests must bring a foldable table, two white chairs, a white tablecloth, and dinner settings, as well as fare to share.
Think of it as a dinner party with 5,999 of your closest, new friends!
This Thursday, August 18, Vancouver will be hosting their fifth annual Dîner en Blanc event. In the past, the guest list has been capped at ~2,000 people. For 2016, there are 6,000 guests invited, which will make this the largest public dinner party to date in Canada.
If you weren’t on the guest list this year, you can keep an eye on the Dîner en Blanc website for information on how to apply for 2017. In the meantime, keep an eye on social media for hints on the secret location to try and catch a glimpse at the revelry.
Dîner en Blanc Vancouver 2016 will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 6pm. The location is still a mystery… Where do you think the party will be held this year? Let us know your guesses in the comment section below!
