Check out some live theatre while you’re visiting Vancouver in the autumn. Bakersfield Mist, by Stephen Sachs, is the latest play to hit the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, from October 20 – November 20.Starring Nicola Cavendish and Jonathan Monro, this pair of talented actors have teamed up again in a play The Telegraph says is “Wonderfully funny! Definitely the genuine article.”
Maude (Nicola Cavendish) is past fifty, completely broke, and living in a trailer park in Bakersfield, California. Things aren’t going well, until she comes across a long-lost painting by the renowned Jackson Pollock—or at least she thinks it is. Art expert (Jonathan Monro) comes on the scene to verify its authenticity. Can he determine it its the real deal?
“Maude is a survivor, hardened by a life short on love and likely long on regret,” says Nicola Cavendish. “After working together on 4000 Miles, I’m excited to work with Roy again because he has a fine inquiring mind and leaves no stone unturned in the exploration of a script. His rehearsals are always full of rich laughter and insight. It’s been a joy to create a dynamo character like Maude in Roy’s rehearsal hall.”
