The 12 Productions of Christmas, Day 10: Trading Christmas

The carousel is a must-do at Burnaby Village Museum’s Heritage Christmas.

It’s day 10 of The 12 Productions of Christmas! Today’s spotlight is Trading Christmas.

The production  In the heat of July 2011, Trading Christmas commenced filming in Vancouver, casting a festive air over Water Street in Gastown and other neighbourhoods in the city. The story follows an elementary school teacher and a novelist who live separate lives in different U.S. states, yet come together through a house swapping website (spoiler alert: love happens). The movie also filmed in Maple Ridge, Abbotsford Airport and Fort Langley.

The attraction  Travel back to a simpler time when Christmas consisted of holiday singalongs, old-fashioned displays and townsfolk dressed in their seasonal best. Burnaby Village’s much-loved Heritage Christmas (November 25 to January 5) returns with a vintage Yuletide enhanced by contemporary activities like a guest-controlled light show; 12 Days of Christmas scavenger hunt; and the new West Coast Christmas, featuring umbrellas, white lights and eco-sculptures. Guests can also take in street performances, craft-making and baking in the farmhouse. Admission is free.
