5 Beautiful Places to Get Married in Vancouver

Fun and beautiful places to get married are not scarce in Vancouver, so how do you decide–weighing not just the backdrop for photos, but the staff, options, food, and all the rest? One person who knows Vancouver’s locations inside and out is co-producer of the Union Wedding Show and long-time wedding planner, Cristie Rosling.

Cristie and co-producer Belle Ancell created the Union Wedding Show three years ago as a place where LGBTQ2+ couples and vendors could go in a setting that was guaranteed to be positive. “We live in a very diverse and accepting city, however there are still sometimes people who won’t work with queer couples. We wanted to create a safe and fun space where there was no chance they’d run into that kind of barrier.”

In her time at the show and as a planner, Rosling has worked with vendors all over the city. Here are five venues (all LGBTQ2IA-friendly) she recommends to couples looking to get married in Vancouver:

Pacific Yacht Charters

These yachts board right out of downtown Vancouver, and offer a few options of where to sail. “For out-of-town guests it’s really cool to be out on the water,” says Rosling, “and the food is always incredible.”

Vancouver Rowing Club

The rowing club is a beautiful setting right beside Stanley Park, which makes for many nearby photo options. “They provide tables, chairs, and bar service, but the rest is up to you, “says Rosling, “you have the flexibility to bring in your own caterer and your own décor.”

Grouse Mountain

It’s hard to go bigger than on the top of a mountain. And whether it’s in the summer with all the greenery, a winter wonderland, or at night with the city glittering below, those photos are going to be enviable. “There’s three different reception venues,” say Rosling, “and one of the places you can have the ceremony is outside, overlooks the city, and a gondola passes by as you get married. It’s very Vancouver.”

The Pipe Shop

“It’s a beautiful, humongous room,” says Rosling, “you can bring any décor you’d like, your own caterer, and handle your own bar.” The Pipe Shop is also a quick and scenic hop on the SeaBus, which is a fun transit ride for anyone new to the city.

UBC Boathouse

Not far from the airport, the boathouse is a stunning building right on the water with floor-to-ceiling windows. “It looks like you’re floating on the water. There’s also a spot on the dock where you can have the ceremony outside,” says Rosling, “and you can bring your own caterer and bartender.”
