You know how it is—you need a last-minute gift for your co-worker, spouse or sister-in-law. Or maybe there’s just a dyed-in-the-wool pet-lover on your list and you’d like to get them something more special than artisanal scented candles.
Have no fear, true believers—Inside Vancouver has the cat-and-dog-themed Christmas gift guide for you!
Let’s start at VOKRA (2028 Wall St.), shall we?
The nonprofit’s stated mission is “to end cat overpopulation and homelessness.” This year, they’re offering the 2019 VOKRA Calendar. The calendar features 15 cats and kittens displayed in a 9″ x 14″ flip-top format. All proceeds directly support the rescue of more than 1,400 kitties each year. ($15.00 at squareup.com)
Over at the SPCA, you can pick up a pack of 12 holiday cards. The cards feature BC SPCA (1205 E. 7th Ave.) Calendar Contest superstars Matilda the cat and Jake the dog. The cards are sold in shrink-wrapped packages and include envelopes. Each package includes six cat cards, six dog cards, and 12 white envelopes. Cards are blank inside with the BC SPCA logo on the back. Dimension: 7 x 5.” ($17.86 at shop.spca.bc.ca)
Also available from the BC SPCA is this handsome toque. It’s the same price as the toque, $17.86, and available at the same link.
Neuterhead also has some groovy stuff. The nonprofit “uses rock n roll to raise funds to assist responsible pet rescue groups with the costs of spaying and neutering. Funds are raised through the sale of merch online and through bands who have generously volunteered their time and energy to selling Neüterhead merchandise while on tour.” Their online shop (or store at 2425 E. Hastings) is the place to find Rush, Motorhead and other cat-meets-metal-themed Ts and other items (i.e. pins, totes, beer “koozies”).
Visit neuterhead.com to see a full line of their specialty items.
