As the kids say these days… the Capilano Suspension Bridge is experiencing a “glow up” (that is: an incredible transformation) this upcoming winter season when it opens up for the annual Canyon Lights festival.

The extremely popular Canyon Lights Winter Lights Festival is coming back to the Capilano Suspension Bridge from November 22, 2018 to January 27, 2019.

This annual event is a favourite for locals and tourists alike, featuring thousands of lights decorating the park – transforming it into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment.

Until the end of January, the park will be open from 11am to 9pm (except for Christmas Day), with the suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and the canyon all transformed into a dazzling display.

Once again, the 30-ton Douglas firs of Treetops Adventure will receive star treatment. This adventure takes you over a series of seven mini-suspension bridges attached to eight 250 years old Douglas-firs with viewing platforms, reaching up to 110 feet above the forest floor. These magnificent Douglas firs will be lit above and below the collars, making these trees the eight tallest Christmas trees in the world!

Back by popular demand, visitors can also go on a Snowy Owl Prowl, decorate gingerbread cookies (by donation)  and sing-along carols with the holiday band.

Insider’s Secrets for the best experience

– To avoid entrance line-ups, visit the park on weekdays prior to December 21st or after January 6th!

– Strollers are not permitted on the attractions. Babies should be carried below railing level or in a purpose-designed child-carrying device.

– Dress for an outdoor experience and ensure you are wearing appropriate footwear!

– Don’t forget to bring your camera.

For the easiest way to get to the park, there will be a free shuttle operating from Canada Place to the Suspension Bridge every 15-30 minutes between 10:30am and 9:00pm during the duration of Canyon Lights.
