Basia Bulat performs at this year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival.

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival has announced its lineup for 2019. The festival takes place at Jericho Beach Park July 19 – 21. All told, 60 acts have been announced, including international, national and local artists.

Below, you’ll see some of the names that jumped out at us. For a complete schedule and lineup, visit thefestival.bc.ca. Early bird tickets are available now until May 11 at eventbrite.ca.

Basia Bulat—Since releasing her debut album Oh, My Darling, in 2007, Ontario singer Basia Bulat has shared stages with artists like the National, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, St. Vincent, and Sufjan Stevens. In early 2016, she released Good Advice, a break-up record produced by Jim James of My Morning Jacket.

David Hidalgo—Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist David Hidalgo is best known as a member of Los Lobos, the Latin Playboys (along with Louie Pérez, Mitchell Froom, and Tchad Blake), and Los Super Seven. Jerry Garcia Band, Waylon Jennings, and Bonnie Raitt are among those who have covered his songs.

Corb Lund—Albertan country dude Lund is a live favourite in Canada, and an eight-time Canadian Country Music Awards Roots Artist of the Year winner. HIs most recent album is 2015’s Things That Can’t Be Undone.

Lucy Rose—The rising UK singer/songwriter is on her fourth album, No Words Left. The Guardian praised her “candid, searching songwriting,” and said her latest record “is her starkest, filled with lyrics about uncertainty and isolation, and yet her most striking, conveying the strongest sense of her artistic identity yet.”

Sam Roberts Band—Last year, singer/songwriter Sam Roberts released a deluxe edition of We Were Born in Flame, his 2003 debut. The platinum (in Canada) record featured the hits “Brother Down” and “Where Have All The Good People Gone?” The release followed the band’s sixth studio album, Terraform, in 2016.

Also notable: Persephone Brewing Company. The festival has a new beer partner this year, so you’ll be able to enjoy the music while drinking craft brew from this Gibsons, BC outfit.
