Will Little Destroyer bring the rock to the Khatsahlano Street Party this Sunday? Of course they will.
The annual Khatsahlano Street Party is a celebration of music, food, and Vancouver’s Westside, in particular the stretch of West 4th between Burrard and MacDonald. The festival takes place this Sunday, July 6, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Now in its ninth year, Khatsahlano features performers ranging from established West Coast heavies to local up-and-comers. Below you’ll find links to songs by 10 of the nearly 40 acts. Check out the bands, and visit khatsahlano.com to see a full lineup.
Hey Ocean!—West Coast royalty, Hey Ocean! is a guaranteed good time of the sunshine-pop variety. On Amsterdam, you might just hear a little bit of another B.C. artist, Carly Rae Jepsen. 5:30 on the Creative BC Balsam Stage.
Jody Glenham—This acoustic solo version of Right Thru My Heart shows the singer going down a lonely road, Mr. State Trooper on her taillights. 6 p.m. on the Coast Capital Savings Vine Stage.

The Boom Booms—Their song All Day All Night owes more than a little to Lionel Richie. Then again, not enough bands these days are influenced by Lionel Richie. 7 p.m. on the Kater MacDonald Stage.
Harlequin Gold—Never mind that their name recalls 70s/80s Canadian FM prairie rock staple Harlequin. The band had at least one catchy atmospheric indie-pop number to its name, Youth. 6:30 p.m. on the TD Burrard Stage.
Little Destroyer—Mansions is the band’s stab at a contemporary dance-pop single—and it’s successful in its Miley Cyrus-meets-Lorde kind of way. 6 p.m. on the Kater MacDonald Stage.
Tonya Aganaba—Watch Rock I’m Ready, recorded live by Gastown Sessions at the John Fluevog shoe store, to see the sizzling soul that Tonya and her band will bring to the Creative BC Balsam Stage at 7:30 p.m.
Diamond Cafe—The Way You Used to Love Me is luxurious, Prince-influenced bedroom pop. The song has appeared on the HBO series Ballers. Catch him at 5:30 p.m. on the TD Burrard Stage.
Devours—In the mood for some ’80s/90s-style new-wave goth, a la the Cure and Human League? Of course you are. So watch this video of Devours’ Curmudgeon, and see him perform at 7 p.m.on the Coast Capital Savings Vine Stage.
Douse—The moody indie-pop flavours of The Importance of Each Other will prove irresistible to fans of the Smiths and Everything But the Girl. 6:30 p.m. on the Creative BC Balsam Stage.
Alexandria Maillot—Her song Messed It Up starts off with a Lana Del Rey beach vibe, then gets heavy and lush. Also, she’s been on… Nancy Grace? 5:30 p.m. on the Creative BC Balsam Stage.
