Shipyards Grand Opening marks a unique new space on Vancouver’s North Shore

Although we were devastated to hear that the 2019 Fun City Festival and its giant waterslide down Lonsdale Avenue was cancelled for the year, spirits were raised after hearing about the Shipyards Grand Opening on July 20 in North Vancouver.

The Shipyards is a unique, interactive, and activity-driven place in the heart of North Vancouver, just a quick Seabus ride from Downtown.

There will be activity and entertainment throughout the waterfront for all ages and you’ll get a first look into the exciting new spaces that will be opening with the Shipyards.

During the Grand Opening celebration, from 1 pm to 4 pm, join the water-themed event for performances, live music, the ‘Fall for Local’ market (free admission), special promotions, a scavenger hunt, and harbour activities.

Lower Lonsdale has turned into a thriving neighbourhood and the opening of the Shipyards is the extra icing on the cake. First opened in 1906, the heritage destination was closed as a working site in 1992. Now, The Shipyards area will be offering residents and visitors alike a unique, interactive, year-round, activity-driven people place.

Not to mention an indoor skating rink that will be larger than Robson Square… (Something to look forward to this winter!)
