Across the province, Les Dames d’Escoffier-BC Chapter is putting on 22 fabulous dinner parties to which you’re all invited. Thirteen of the dinners take place in Vancouver, with a variety of top establishments participating.

This annual fundraiser offers unforgettable dining experiences in August when local ingredients are at their finest.

This year’s Summerdine takes place August 14, 2019, with one special dinner at Sea Cider & Ciderhouse on Vancouver Island on August 15, 2019.

With locations in the Okanagan, the Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, and Vancouver, the event is truly a province-wide collective dinner party. These curated experiences offer primarily intimate summer dining (between 4-8 people) at an affordable price of $80 (plus gratuity, not included) for a multi-course dinner with beverage pairings (the Sea Cider dinner is $100).

The event, with its spirit of conviviality over good food and wine, embodies the ethos of Les Dames d’Escoffier, a global not-for-profit organization that supports the initiatives of women in the culinary and hospitality industries. Each of its 40 chapters fosters community among veteran and emerging female industry leaders, as well as supports important educational and philanthropic endeavours.

Summerdine is an annual fundraising drive for the BC chapter’s scholarship program ($60,000 awarded this year for 29 worthy scholarship recipients), as well as their Community Outreach work that supports groups like Growing Chefs! (getting kids engaged in the entire food cycle), Project Chef (teaching kids in elementary schools nutrition and cooking skills), and Tayybeh (a catering company runs by Syrian female refugees).

Vancouver participants include ARC at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, Coquille Fine Seafood, and Chambar.

Dining Atop a Private Yacht

Pacific Yacht Charters will be hosting 20 guests at a long table situated on the top deck of a private yacht. Views are sure to be spectacular. This year’s menu is still to be determined but last year’s featured a salad with local summer greens, heirloom tomatoes, compressed cucumber, grilled peaches, cheese crisps, and peach buttermilk dressing; as well as polenta with fresh corn, poached prawns, Chinese sausage, crispy egg, charred corn, and curry shrimp vinaigrette. Dessert consisted of jasmine mousse with lychee jelly, basil sorbet, and almond dacquoise.

Hand-crafted Pizza in the Heart of Kerrisdale

Bufala in charming Kerrisdale has developed a reputation for their welcoming neighbourhood ambiance, as well as their fabulous pizza made from scratch in the Napolitana style. The menu is still to be announced, but you can expect pizza perfection from their 800 degree stone oven, as well as well-crafted Italian small plates.

There’s also availability still at Douce Diner (North Vancouver), Annora Restaurant (Langley), Trading Post Brewery (Langley), Home Block at Cedar Creek (Kelowna), Old Vines Restaurant at Quail’s Gate Winery (Kelowna), and Red Fox Club (Kelowna).
