Do you dare? 7 wonderfully wacky foods to try at this year’s Fair at the PNE

Where has the summer gone!? It seems like June just passed us by, but somehow we find ourselves in the middle of August. Have you been taking advantage of these sunny, hot days of summer?

The big finale of summer in Vancouver comes in the form of the Fair at the PNE, a summer tradition since 1910.

Highlights of this year’s Fair include the “hypnotizingly” amazing Reveen, an immersive “selfie photo” experience, a new star-studded lineup for the Summer Night Concerts series and the medieval-style Knights of Valour jousting show.

But, we all know what’s really the most important part of the PNE: the food! Along with the classic favourites of corn dogs, blooming onions, and everything you can possibly think of deep-fried, there’s some… interesting things… on the menu for PNE 2019!

Pickle Cotton Candy – For those days when you just can’t decide between something sweet or salty… Some may think this treat is dilly crazy… You can find this interesting treat at Next Gen Sweet Side Candy.

Butterbeer Soft Serve – All muggles and wizards will enjoy this one! There’s nothing better than a refreshing soft serve on a hot summer day at SummerLand SoftServe.

Foot Long French Fries – We’ve all seen the foot long hotdogs and foot long subs. Now you’ve gotta try these foot long French fries from Freakk Fries.

Devil’s Ramen – Think you can handle it? This ramen is hot and spicy, so if you’re up for a challenge, then slurp away at Saltspring Noodle Bar.

Cheesy Ramen Corndog – Don’t worry, those aren’t worms on your corndog! In this version, the classic fair fave is wrapped in mozzarella cheese, dipped in batter, rolled in crispy ramen noodles and fried until golden brown… check them out at Next Gen Corn Dog.

Want something crazier? Try the Flaming Hot Cheetos Corndog (see the first picture in this article for reference) – which takes the classic corndog, but spices it up to a whole other level. Head to Chicky’s Chicken to satisfy the craving!

Okay, it’s not food, but it still counts as something interesting to try! The Tipsy Unicorn is as magical as it sounds. This colourful, smoking cocktail will be sure to make your Fair experience a special one. Plus it looks good on Instagram.
