Out Innerspace Dance Theatre presents Bygones, on now until Dec. 14 at Scotiabank Dance Centre (677 Davie St.). Created and performed by co-directors David Raymond and Tiffany Tregarthen in collaboration with dancers Renée Sigouin, Elya Grant and David Harvey, the work “considers how we are shaped by what we have overcome: and how something challenging can lead to something beautiful,” according to the media release.

Raymond and Tregarthen founded Vancouver contemporary dance company Out Innerspace Dance Theatre in 2007. Full-length works include Me So You So Me (2012), Vessel (2010, 2013) and Major Motion Picture (2016). The company has built a reputation for works which are both innovative and accessible, and which combine intricate choreography with intriguing visuals.
Virtuosic, hyper-detailed choreography, ghostly architecture, and transformed objects inform Bygones, creating “a haunting universe of pseudo-things and supernatural selves existing on the margins of form and formlessness.” Out Innerspace’s first full-length work in three years, Bygones premiered in Bulgaria and toured Germany and Quebec prior to the Vancouver performances.
The show is part of Dance Centre’s Global Dance Connections series.
