Spring Comes Early to Metropolis at Metrotown

If your thoughts have already turned to warmer weather and blooming flowers, head next month to Metropolis at Metrotown.

The large shopping and entertainment complex will feature a floral installation inspired by the hope of spring–and it’s all in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity!

On March 7, 2020, I Heart Tulips returns to Metropolis at Metrotown (4700 Kingsway, Burnaby) for the second year in a row. Tulips of the Valley, an organization that puts on the Chilliwack Tulip Festival and the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival, is also behind this exciting charitable initiative. Davy Onos from Onos Greenhouses Ltd. and Kate Onos-Gilbert are the founders of Tulips of the Valley.

From 10am to 11am, visitors to Metropolis at Metrotown will be able to view 14,000 live tulips (yes, 14,000!) located in the Grand Court. The tulips will be in viewing range from each of the three levels of the mall. From high up, visitors will particularly be able to see the heart formations of the thousands of flowers.

Then, from 11am until closing, the tulips will be available for purchase at 8 stems for $5 or 20 for $10. Visitors will be buying the flowers in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity, which provides direct help to children with special needs, enriching their lives and offering support in a wide variety of ways.

So many gorgeous tulips will definitely warrant a selfie or two. Selfie locations will include a tulip filled baby carriage, giant photo frames, and a replica mini flower stand. You can also kick it old school with polaroids that will be available for purchase for a donation to Variety.

Hopefully, at the end of the day, all 14,000 tulips will be gone. The flowers may be ephemeral but your support of children with special needs will have a lasting impact.
