So you’ve heard that a vegan diet is supposed to be great for your body and the environment, but you still don’t know what it’s really all about?
A special free food tasting event at Emily Carr University, Wednesday, Jan. 22, aims to explain the vegan experience and offer some tasty samples and recipes. According to organizers, the goal is to demystify veganism, which is defined as abstaining from consuming or using products derived from animals.
The event is highlighted by a cooking demo from chef Preet Marwaha, who served as a VIP chef at the United Nations and also started Vancouver’s own OrganicLives, a line of raw organic food products. Marwaha, who suffered from a life-threatening illness before embracing a vegan lifestyle, will touch on the benefits of having a plant-based diet, then illustrate how to prepare vegan dishes, including quick, wholesome smoothies.
The event will also feature samples from two of Vancouver’s iconic vegan eateries, Eternal Abundance and Fairy Cakes. Continue reading:
