For yourself or for the fathers in your life, there is a lot of fun to be had this weekend. The Queer Arts Festival opens, there’s free family events at the Bill Reid Gallery, symphony, comedy, football, drag, burlesque, a car show, and behind-the-scenes tours of the Commodore Ballroom.
It’s a good weekend to be a kid; the International Children’s Festival is on, there’s a ballet production of Cinderella and an adventure playground pop-up. Or you can re-live some childhood memories with comedians recalling high school stories and a production of music from the Final Fantasy games.
It’s the last big hurrah of the summer, and rumour has it it’s going to be a hot one, and I don’t mean the two (yes, two) adult Disney-themed events going on. Enjoy not wearing socks or sleeves outside while you still can at one of the many music festivals this weekend! If you’re the type who prefers the sweet icy breath of indoor air con, don’t worry, there’s some great things in here for you as well.

Things to Do in Vancouver this Weekend: August 31, 2017
This weekend you can tickle the exhibitionist inside of you either with a lack of clothing at the Naked Bike Ride, or with a fancy hat (and clothing for the rest of your body as well) at the Deighton Cup. It’s also Shark Week at the Aquarium, the beginning of the Drum is Calling Festival, the African Descent Festival, and Pride Sports day is on Saturday!

Things to Do in Vancouver this Weekend: July 20, 2017
Just how Vancouver can one summer weekend possibly get? Quite, if a mashup of a folk music on the beach, tiny dog races, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh canoeing, sipping adult beverages at playland, live painting, outdoor dancing, and even an exhibition about sustainable urban housing pretty much encompasses most of it. Throw in a bit of hiking, outdoor yoga, and sushi, and I’d say we’ve pretty much got it in the bag this weekend.

Dust off your picnic basket and shake out your favourite outdoor blanket because one of the most hotly anticipated events of the summer is coming back to Vancouver this July and August!
Every Tuesday night during the summer, outdoor movies are screened in the picturesque setting of Stanley Park. Thousands of people flock to Ceperly Meadows (near second beach pool) to gather together, munch on some popcorn, and enjoy the experience of watching a classic movie under the stars on a four-story high inflatable screen.
The schedule for the 2017 outdoor movies has just dropped and it’s full of family-friendly flicks, classic comedies, and a movie that might make you think twice about going for a midnight swim in the ocean… Check out what’s in store for the 2017 summer season every Tuesday night from July 4th – August 22nd in the list below

Stanley Park Outdoor Movies Official Schedule for 2017
With two years on the clock, the Truck Stop Concert Series at Red Truck Beer is already a can’t-miss Vancouver summer highlight, and it’s returning for a third year with three great shows in East Vancouver’s historic Brewery Creek neighbourhood. Once again, Red Truck will load up the all-day excitement of a music festival and drop it in the heart of Downtown Vancouver.
