Crescent Park – Semiahmoo Peninsula’s Hidden Gem

Running Trails in Crescent Park Photo: Rob Weiss

Crescent Park, in South Surrey, is one of those hidden gems patiently waiting to be discovered. Covering over 128 acres, the park is a natural oasis featuring numerous hiking trails, a second growth rain forest, several picnic sites and an extremely popular duck pond. Granted, most folk visiting the scenic Semiahmoo Peninsula will gravitate toward White Rock Beach or Crescent Beach, but should you have the time or the desire for a little bit of solitude, I highly recommend a pit stop at Crescent Park.

Fortunately, you don’t need to travel all the way to the West Coast Trail to experience a Coastal Rain Forest. In fact, Pacific Spirit Regional Park, a lush urban forest, is right outside our back door. Close and convenient, this regional park features 763 hectares of forest and foreshore and is one of my favourite places to visit Doug.

A great park to explore with locals or tourists is Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. The hiking trails loop all through the park within an amazing forest that has some of the largest Douglas Fir trees near Vancouver. The rocky beaches and viewpoints offer great views of Vancouver, Stanley Park and Georgia Strait. The trails are all fairly easy with only a few having a short hill to ascend or descend.
