Do you like garlic? Like… really like garlic? This is one event that Dracula is going to want to miss! (Had to get a vampire joke in there somehow…)

This Sunday, August 18, 2019, you’re invited to celebrate the “stinking rose” at the 11th annual Garlic Festival in Richmond! With locally grown garlic for sale, kid-friendly activities and entertainment, and some delicious food with recipes that are heavy on the garlic, any fan of garlic are not going to want to miss this legendary, annual event.

Unlike any other event in Vancouver, the Garlic Festival challenges participating restaurants and chefs to create unique, garlic-based, healthy, family-friendly meals.

If you try something you really like, there are also recipes to take home and recreate for your new family mealtime tradition.

Feeling adventurous? Don’t forget to try the garlic ice cream. A surprisingly sweet and cool treat for a hot summer day… Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Aside from the food, there will be a host of other activities including an artisan market featuring locally grown produce, meat-free meat alternatives, healthy snack food, fresh preserves, and natural soap.

The festival is hosted on The Sharing Farm, a community-based farm that operates on a tiny budget and relies on 1,000+ yearly volunteers. With the help of volunteers and part-time staff, the Farm is able to provide thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables every year to community meals throughout the city. In their 15 year history, the Farm has donated well over 260,000 pounds of fresh produce.

The annual Garlic Festival helps support the Sharing Farm’s goal to grow fresh local organic produce for low-income families.
