EAT! Vancouver Returns This Fall for Its 18th Year

One of autumn’s most extensive and exciting food festivals will be back, featuring plenty of signature tastings and dinners, renowned chefs, and cooking classes.

The EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival has released a line-up that includes many favourite events from previous years, as well as some new highlights.

From November 4-9, 2019, at various venues around the city, EAT! Vancouver will be offering an exciting array of programming for gourmands and passionate cooks.

Particularly noteworthy is the brand new EAT! Pastry Day (November 9, 2019), which will definitely appeal to all those with an insatiable sweet tooth. The day starts at noon with an exclusive American Express demo with Thomas Haas who will be sharing 3 of his dessert recipes. Following that, Haas, along with Adam Chandler (Beta5), Greg Hook (Chocolate Arts), and Christophe Bonzo (Chez Christophe), will offer dessert tastings as they talk about their creative process with an intimate group. And finally, 15 pastry chefs and chocolatiers will feature their creations in a Grand Tasting Event.

Those who want to sharpen their cooking techniques can sign-up for one or more of the six Expert Classes on offer: pizza making at Nicli Antica Pizzeria (November 4, 2019), the basics of charcuterie with Dave Mottershall and Robert Belcham (November 4, 2019), grilling Peruvian street food with Shelome Bouvette (November 4, 2019), butchering and preparing seasonal fish with Ai & Om Knives (November 4, 2019, AMEX Private Event), a 50s soda shoppe experience at the Clough Club (November 5, 2019), and artisan sausage making with Sebastian Cortez (November 5, 2019, AMEX Private Event).

EAT!’s popular Dinner Series is returning, with five events happening over the course of the festival. Each dinner brings together the talents of a Vancouver and out of town chef(s) for an unforgetting evening of good food and drink. The line-up is as follows: The Acorn hosts Christine Sandford of Biera (Edmonton) for a vegan feast (November 6, 2019); Chef Ned Bell hosts Jonathan Gushue of Fogo Island Inn (Newfoundland) at The Vancouver Club (November 6, 2019, AMEX Private Event), Chef Ian McHale of Wildebeest hosts Carl Heinrich of Richmond Station (Toronto) and Paul Navarette of Kojin (Toronto) (November 7, 2019), Chef Pino Posteraro of Cioppino’s hosts Cathy Whims of Nostrana (Portland) (November 7, 2019), and Robert Belcham of Campagnolo hosts Craig Harding of La Palma (Toronto) (November 7, 2019, AMEX Private Event).

The culminating event of the festival is, without a doubt, EAT! Harvest. This year’s soirée will be a grand affair co-hosted with The Office of Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the US Embassy. It takes place at The Vancouver Club on November 8, 2019. Fifteen chefs from Canada and the United States will be serving tasters paired with Pacific Northwest wine. The talent includes Cathy Whims from Nostrana (Portland), Craig Harding from La Palma (Toronto), Jonathan Gushue from Fogo Island Inn (Newfoundland), and Pino Posteraro from Cioppino’s (Vancouver).

Net proceeds for EAT! Vancouver will benefit the BC Breast Cancer Foundation.

American Express Front of the Line pre-sale ticket sales take place September 9-11, 2019, with tickets to the general public launching September 12, 2019. Further info can be found on-line.
