Free Family Day long weekend event offers something for everyone at Illuminate Yaletown

This upcoming Family Day long weekend in Vancouver, we’ll be heading to Yaletown for its annual Illuminate Yaletown event. A respite from the dark, wet winter evenings, this free light show features thousands of LED lights for an incredible FREE experience in Downtown Vancouver!

Best of all, the extremely popular Illuminate Yaletown event will be taking place over two nights from February 14 – 15^th (talk about the perfect Valentine’s date night idea!)

Running from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm on each night, Illuminate Yaletown will feature unique outdoor projections, creative animations and interactive light forms throughout the Yaletown neighbourhood. Best of all, this event is entirely FREE to attend!

There will be building projections, an “LED Playground” for adults – where you’ll find a LED seesaw and a giant Lite-Brite. Not to mention, a pop-up retro arcade inside Soho Bar. If that isn’t enough, the evenings will also include a “luminous jungle” to offer amazing backdrops for your next Instagram photo, a giant playful “Jax” in the streets, and so much more – including the return of “robot invasion”.

Celebrating the Vancouver 2010 winter Olympic games

2020 also marks the 10-year anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, which took place around this time those many years ago! To recapture the vibrant energy and memories, Illumiate Yaletown will also be filled with cheers, flags, and celebration. There will be Olympic-theme installations for everyone such as the “Olympic Ring Swings” at the LED Playground, and “Winner’s Podium” for you to stand on and commemorate the golden moments.

Participating businesses will also be making Yaletown’s evenings even more fun; grab a friend and enjoy special “Olympic-theme cocktail menus” at participating restaurants in Yaletown.

If you get into the spirit of things by wearing red & white or Olympic-themed outfits, you can also grab a free pair of reflective glasses to enjoy the night even more!
