With BC Family Day long weekend approaching, what better way than to spend it with nerds of all ages at the annual Fan Expo Vancouver? There are family rates, and kids under six get in free (kids from six-10 too, just go to the end of the post to see how you can get a coupon).
This year’s event takes place from Feb. 15-17, Sat-Mon, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. It features a full range of celebrity guests and comic-book creators (find out more here), cosplayers, exhibitors and more. Read on to learn about the Family Zone and see some great pics from previous Fan Expos.
Activities at Fan Expo Vancouver’s Family Zone:
Sorting Hat Ceremony—Discover your “house” and get a house pin (while supplies last) in this ceremony.
The Tiny Colourless Café—Grab a marker and start colouring, and help bring the colour back to the café before FAN EXPO Vancouver ends.
Hogwarts Photo Op—Pretty much as it sounds, we’re guessing. For Harry Potter fans.
Fun With Science World—Various eggheads from Vancouver’s Science World oversee hands-on activities for the youth of today.
Quidditch!—Another activity, this time the game of Quidditch, for fans of JK Rowling’s boy magician.
In addition, there will be dance parties and crafts.
Outside of the Family Zone, the Expo is hosting a kids’ cosplay contest along with the adults’. The LEGO Vancouver club will be there too.
Family passes for the weekend are $95 (Sat), $85 (Sun), and $75 (Mon). There are also weekend passes. For more info, visit fanexpovancouver.com. Free admission for kids 6-12 with this coupon. Youth tickets (for youth aged 13-17) are also just $25.
