While the last few weeks have been somewhat quiet with lesser comings and goings from Vancouver’s screen scene than usual, that all changes this week.

There’s a new young detective series starting principal photography while two series—a superhero show and a new musical dramedy—are finishing up shooting their latest seasons.

Meanwhile, a Canadian feature film, about a young woman torn between her struggling family and a life of love and independence, is also completing production.

And three of these projects feature female leads.

Filming in Vancouver: Arrow to complete filming of its final season

Arrow will come to an end with Season 8.

This year will mark the end of an era for the Vancouver screen scene on two fronts.

One is the forthcoming conclusion of the extremely long-running TV series Supernatural—but that won’t happen until this spring.

Something that will happen much sooner—this week, in fact—will be the end of the filming of the TV series that’s at the centre of the Arrowverse.

While a popular adaptation of a teenage comic book is getting back to work, the latest season will be be faced with the prospect of bidding some sad farewells.

Meanwhile, a superhero series, that launched an entire network of interconnected TV series, is preparing to take its final bow.

Amid all this emotional news, there are some bright spots: a new series, about two female best friends, will start shooting its first season and a horror drama is back for a second season.
