Over the past three decades much has changed for the HIV+ members of our communities. Life expectancy has increased with greater access to anti-HIV treatments and community support resources; however, the challenges that HIV+ people face remain as palpable as ever, and there are many ways to help in Vancouver that bring people together in ways that are both meaningful and fun.

Remember that Gandhi saying about being the change you want to see in the world? You might not think it at first, but Vancouver’s Queers and Beers is inspired by just that sort of logic. It’s a seasonal event held every 3-4 months and just like the awesome name implies, it’s a hang-out party for LGBTQ+ folks focused on local craft beer tasting.

Who are the drag kings and queens that flip the script on gender and push the boundaries of the possible with powder, pigment, and lace? Who are these community leaders that carry on the legacy of gender heroes, such as Marsha P. Johnson (who threw the first stone at Stonewall in 1969), throughout LGBTQ+ herstory?
