Fuse at the Vancouver Art Gallery

If you’re looking for: an entertaining night filled with inspiring art in a unique venue.

What is it? On Friday, March 10, 2017 the Vancouver Art Gallery transforms into THE place for art, music and live performance in the city. The gallery as you know it turns into the hippest joint in town with live performances in the Gallery spaces, DJs and unexpected surprises. It’s the place to see some of the best in local performance art, theatre, contemporary dance and music.

This month’s event is focused on celebrating refusal and denial… If that sounds intriguing, check out the Facebook event page for more details.

How much does it cost? Admission is $24 each.

After Hours at the Vancouver Aquarium

If you’re looking for: an evening with animals (and booze!)

What is it? Experience the Vancouver Art Gallery without the kids underfoot at the Vancouver Aquarium’s popular After Hours Event. On Thursday, March 16, 2017 you’re invited to learn more about the unique mating habits of marine life. Sound exciting? After Hours is a great evening activity that doubles as a learning experience. You can grab a cocktail, beer, or glass of wine and explore the aquarium after dark.

Learn more about the event and the very unique activities planned for the evening at the Vancouver Aquarium website.

How much does it cost? Members ($23) or non-members ($31)

Burlesque at the Rio Theatre

If you’re looking for: a sexy, scandalous evening that will keep you entertained for hours.

What is it? Burlesque is big in Vancouver and for good reason; the titillating dances are incredibly entertaining. The Rio Theatre has become one of the best venues for unique burlesque shows and the month of March does not disappoint. Looking for Sailor Moon inspired burlesque? A burlesque tribute to Kate Bush? Or, for something completely different… how about checking out a burlesque tribute show to Stephen King? You know there will be sexy clowns involved.

For full details about each of the shows, check out the Rio Theatre event calendar.

How much does it cost? Tickets are typically $15 – $30 depending on the show.

Movies in the Morgue

If you’re looking for: an excuse to cuddle up and watch a movie in a very unique venue.

What is it? The Vancouver Police Museum hosts one of the strangest events in town: Movies in the Morgue. It’s a somewhat random series of film screenings held right in the old Vancouver city morgue. Yes, you read that right.

The movies being screened this month include Shaun of the Dead (sold out, but maybe try calling to get on the wait list) and Point Break. You’ll also get a chance to check out the very cool police museum before the show.

Learn more and purchase tickets at the Vancouver Police Museum website.

How much does it cost? Tickets are typically $10 per screening.
