Red Truck Brewing announces summer 2017 concert series

Soul man Lee Fields and Australian electronica act Cut/Copy are two of the headliners that Red Truck Brewing (295 E. 1st Ave.) has scored for its 2017 summer concert series.

For the third year in a row, the East Van brewery is turning its parking lot into a concert ground. The Red Truck Brewery Concert Series features two stages, a main stage and a smaller stage. The series is comprised of three concerts of six acts each. Here’s a look at each show.

This series launches June 17 with a show featuring Cut/Copy as well as local bands Youngblood and Band of Rascals.

On July 15, country music fans can check out Alabama-raised, Nashville-based singer Drake White and his band the Big Fire. Local acts on the bill include The Dungarees, Chris Buck Band, Kristin Bunyan, and Sykamore.

Lee Fields & The Expressions head a soul-and-funk-theme final concert Aug. 12. Vince Vaccaro and The Real Ponchos are also on the bill.

In addition, each show also has one opening slot reserved for the winner of an Artist Submission contest. Unsigned local acts can submit their demos for a chance to be part of the bill and show off their music in front of the crowd of 1,500 music fans.

Along with the two stages, each concert features food trucks and Red Truck’s trademark suds. “The Truck Stop Concert Series is the highlight of our summer,” Red Truck Brewing general manager Jim Dodds said in a media release announcing the shows. “What could be better than throwing parties for thousands of thirsty music fans at our East Vancouver home?”

General admission tickets are $35 for each show and go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, April 21. For $75, a transferrable Tailgate Passes is good for admission to all three shows, and $25 Early Bird single show tickets available from 10 a.m. April 18 ’til 10 a.m. April 21 to people who’ve signed up for express concert news delivery. Beer tickets are also available for advance purchase online to beat the crowds.
