X marks the spot and since Vancouver’s the spot to film outside of Hollywood, it makes sense that there’s a lot of notable X-related film and TV news in this week’s roundup. There’s also a U.S. remake of a Brit sci-fi series, a feature thriller, and a list of upcoming TV series to be shot here.
With so much to get through, let’s get going.
To start things off, if you hear a lot of swearing around these parts, it’s because the mouthy merc is back.

Meanwhile, Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) will play Domino, a mutant mercenary with an unconscious ability to affect probability—otherwise known as good luck.
In other filming news, the psychological thriller Motivated Seller, directed by Deon Taylor (Meet the Blacks), started shooting on June 21 and continues until July 21.
Michael Ealy (The Perfect Guy) and Meagan Good (Think Like a Man Too) star as a young couple who move into a country home. However, the house’s former owner, played by Dennis Quaid (Far From Heaven), is seeking to reclaim it as his own.
The TV pilot for Misfits, directed by Victoria Mahoney, started filming yesterday and will continue until July 14.
It’s a U.S. reboot of the British sci-fi series about a group of young offenders in a community-service program. After they’re hit by an electrical storm, they discover they have superhuman powers.
The cast includes Ashleigh LaThrop (Sirens), Tre Hall (Ten Days in the Valley), Allie MacDonald (Orphan Black), and Jake Cannavale (Nurse Jackie).
As for forthcoming TV series, there’s some more news for X-fans: the truth is back here.
The beloved paranormal series The X-Files is returning to Vancouver to shoot Season 11 from August 8 to December 21.
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will reprise their roles as investigative special agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.
The production is aiming for an early 2018 release.
Elsewhere in the near future, here’s a quick summary of some other TV series coming to town:
• The Arrangement, about a young actress who agrees to a contract to marry a top-gun Hollywood star, is back to shoot Season 2 from July 24 to November 3.
• the horror-drama series The Exorcist, which shot Season 1 in Chicago, is relocating to shoot Season 2 here from July 24 to November 14
• the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series The 100, which follows a group of youths who return to Earth after a nuclear holocaust, is shooting Season 5 from August 14 all the way until January 29, 2018
• the sci-fi series The Crossing, which shot its pilot here in March and is about refugees arriving from the future, will be back to film Season 1 from July 25 to November 24
• while we previously mentioned The Man in the High Castle started shooting for Season 3 in May, it looks like the dates have been rescheduled. It has since been listed as having started on Monday (June 26) and will continue until November 28.
And that’s it for this X-instalment.
Until next time, happy star-spotting on the streets of Hollywood North.
