Cafe Medina’s spin on the Caesar

Canadians love their clamato juice cocktails any time of year, or day, but it’s Thursday, May 19th where you’ll want to hit some of these local bars and restaurants for their take on Canada’s classic. Hail-yes Caesar! Not a gimmicky pizza-garnish in sight, but instead delicious drinks with a unique spin on the usual recipe. Here’s 5 to try:

The Union’s Southeast Asian Caesar

The Union

Southeast Asian influences like fresh Thai basil leaves, calamansi (Filipino lemonade), sriracha, Worcestershire, a healthy pour of gin and clamato juice, make for one unexpected spin on a classic. A Thai basil flower and a curry salt rim are the finishing touches.

Joe's Signature Caesar

Joe Fortes

Joe’s Signature Caesar blends vodka, fresh horseradish, sambal oelek, Worcestershire, and their homemade clamato juice, poured into a lemon pepper rimmed glass, garnished with a jumbo prawn, celery and lime. Cheers to that.

Bacon makes it better, at Tableau Bar Bistro

Tableau Bar Bistro

Tableau’s Bacon Caesar uses a secret bacon-infused vodka, mixed with Dubonnet red, Walter’s Craft Caesar mix, celery bitters, olive brine and smoked oyster salt for the rim. Garnished with a piece of bacon, of course.

Earls caesar

Beef jerky and a dill pickle garnish, at Earls

Earls

The restaurant chain does it right. The Signature Caesar involves Smirnoff Vodka, Mott’s Clamato, and their special Earls Caesar Spice Mix (a blend of Montreal steak seasoning spices, horseradish, onion powder, HP, Worcestershire, house made pickle brine). Garnished with a lime wedge, house made dill pickle and Landjager beef jerky stick.
