Hot enough for you? If you’re looking for some unique places to cool down in Vancouver this summer, why not try sliding down a giant 1,000-foot long slip n’ slide!? This August, North Vancouver will be bringing back the extremely popular Slide the City event, which includes a massive waterslide that stretches for three city blocks.

Tickets are now on sale for the Slip N’ Slide that will be set up as part of North Vancouver’s 2017 Fun City Festival taking place on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13. Aside from the giant slip n’ slide, there will be live music, food trucks, artisans, a kids fun zone, roving performers, outdoor patios, beverage gardens, and no cars. It’s North Van’s answer to the City of Vancouver’s popular Car Free Festivals, and it’s certainly gearing up to be something special.

This will be the third annual Slide the City event in North Vancouver and it only gets more popular each year. When it was first introduced, the event drew in around 25,000 sliders, with many getting turned away from the ticket booth after passes sold out almost instantly.

This year, tickets cost $23.00 (in USD) for three chances to slip down the massive slide. Or, you can get an all-day pass for $50.00. Earlybird tickets are on sale now, so it’s a good idea to purchase them early to beat the rush as August draws closer.

Slide the City is a roving attraction and has been set up in cities across North America. This year, North Vancouver is the only location listed in Canada this summer. It is billed as a “family-friendly slip-and-slide water party event” with “live music, food, drinks, water and of course the biggest slip-and-slide ever to hit asphalt.” Unlike what you might remember from childhood, this Slip N’ Slide is fully padded, with inflatable bumpers to ensure you stay on track and don’t go splashing out onto the pavement.

If you’re not keen on taking a long ride down a slippery slope, the 2017 Fun City Festival will still be the place to be on August 13 & 14 when Lower Lonsdale turns into a pedestrian zone filled with vendors, food trucks, live music, DJs & entertainment. Sometimes, nothing is more fun that watching people careening down a giant, 1000-foot slip n’ slide.
