After a wave of snow blanketed Vancouver over the holiday season and into the New Year, the Winter wonderland has melted away and the warmer weather has begun to approach. But for those snow seekers who didn’t get a taste of the frosty fun, there’s no need to fret, because the snow is still falling at the top of Mount Seymour – a local mountain located only 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Here are a few ways you can slide down the slopes and play in the snow before Winter slips away.

When it comes to Winter fun, skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing seem to take the spotlight, but there are other fun ways to play in the snow with kids that don’t require lessons or excess equipment.

Snow Tubing

Head to Mount Seymour’s Snow Tube Park, and enjoy a thrilling ride down a well-groomed trail of snow in a specially-designed tube. For $20-$22 per person ($88 for a family of five), you can enjoy 2 full hours of fun sliding down the hill (Note: rate includes tube rental), and when you reach the bottom, no need to trudge back up to the top. Instead, you can catch a ride back to the top of the hill on the custom tube tow.

To Know: Riders must be at least 48″ tall to use the Snow Tube Park. Only one person per tube is permitted, and riders must tube on their bellies to control their speed as they slide down the hill.

Tobogganing

Mount Seymour has a separate, multi-lane tobogganing hill that’s suitable for all ages. For $10-$12 per person (or $40-$48 for a family of 5), visitors can bring their own toboggan or snow sled, or they can purchase a sliding mat on the hill for only $10. Mount Seymour’s Toboggan Park is perfect for kids as its multiple lane and well-managed setup allows for short lineups, leaving more time for fun in the snow!

To Know: Children 3 years and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. One free child per adult. Inflatables or custom-made sliding devices are not permitted.

When you’re ready for a warmup, head to the Enquist Lodge where you can snuggle up by the fire, sip on hot chocolate, and enjoy the sweeping views of the snowy mountains that surround you.

Before you head up the mountain, be sure to check out the latest snow conditions, and hours of operation.
