For many, Valentine’s Day is a special occasion celebrated with romantic candlelit dinners, long-stemmed roses, and stolen kisses, but for parents with young kids, the day of love can easily shift from a day of passion, to an excuse to order in and implement early bedtimes.

Having kids shouldn’t mean forgoing the Valentine’s Day festivities! Vancouver offers a long list of great Valentine’s Day activities fit for the whole family to enjoy. Here are just 4 of the ways you can celebrate love on February 14th with your kid in tow.

1) Go Ice Skating at Robson Square

Strap on some skates, grab each other’s hands, and go for a spin around the rink at Robson Square. This is your last chance to enjoy a local favourite pastime before the rink is shut down for the year. Valentine’s Day is the last day the ice rink is open to the public – a great excuse to enjoy an evening of family fun.

2) Celebrate Your Love For Chocolate

Don’t just celebrate your love for one another on Valentine’s Day, celebrate your love for chocolate with a visit to Vancouver’s annual Hot Chocolate Festival. Featuring 21 participating restaurants, and 61 unique and sweet-tooth-satisfying flavours, this event will have you swooning for sweet sips while buzzing from a sugar rush. Hurry, because February 14th is the last day to enjoy the festivities. Proceeds support job training programs for the women of the downtown Eastside, so you can feel good supporting a great cause while filling up on copious amounts of cocoa.
